Jetmen Revival 2D Remake (WIP demo)
A downloadable game
Hello!
This project is currently EXTREMELY buggy and in active development.
This is a WIP upload of my project, a unity-engine remake of the classic freeware game Jetmen Revival 2D.
I'm planning on getting this to be as close as possible to the original, then add a bunch of extra features, including more weapons, gamemodes, and basic P2P networking.
Controls:
Escape to return to main menu
Player 1:
W, A, D - movement
TAB- fire main gun
S-Fire special gun
Player 2:
Arrow keys- movement
Backspace- Fire main gun
Down arrow-Fire special gun
Known Bugs:
+Flags and starting zones not spawning in the correct place (figured this out, I have to make the maps in a build version instead of in the inspector and its fine)
+Special weapon UI not updating properly
+VERY long load time on making map, this can definitely be reduced
+Various special weapons have odd behavior or don't spawn their bullets right
+The main sound for the exhaust sounds horrible. I think the original loops it slightly before the end or does something else to the sound
+A bunch of other minor things
+Shooting during the victory/defeat screen bugs out
Stuff for Target 1 (Parity with the original game):
+Snow and water effects in maps (most of the way finished on these, just need to add a way to add them in the map editor and fix a few issues)
+Dot map support for maps (I went with a user-friendly map editor instead of replying solely on changing files manually like the original, but there's no other good way of letting players make chunks of the map snow/water on runtime freely other than dot maps)
+Various weapon, movement, particle etc. adjustments
+Adding new flags
+Medals (WIP at the moment)
Wishlist:
+New weapons
+basic peer-to-peer neworking
+Different terrain stuff (acid, weird map effects like magnets and black holes, etc.)
A "forgiving" setting where touching the walls with 1 pixel of your ship doesn't instantly kill you
+rebinding controls, resolution changes, volume adjuster etc. the things you'd expect in a more modern game
